The Japanese Industrial Standards Committee was pleased and honoured to host the annual general meeting of the Pacific Area Standards Congress (PASC) in Okayama City, Japan from 15 to 18 May 2018. The theme of this year’s meeting was “Standards for Human Centered Society”.

The theme of the PASC Workshop ‘Standards for Human-Centred Society’ intended for participants to discuss and showcase the best practices in development and implementation of standards to support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). The participants also proposed a list of recommended action items to be undertaken by the international organisations, PASC, and national standards bodies to support the UN SDGs.

International organisations including the ISO, IEC and ITU also presented during the week on their initiatives supporting the UN SDGs and shared on the joint projects on facilitating deeper cooperation between the organisations.
